What I Do

Here's a look at just a few of the tings I get up to frequently...

BRANDING

Branding is the first thing people see when viewing your organisation, so I’ve focused a lot of my time on making content that attracts and is memorable.

My Experience: I’ve been fortunate enough to work on a number of branding projects. Like the branding guidelines I helped to create for multiple unique golf clubs, a B2B software company and a digital marketing agency (multiple examples available).

Social media isn’t just a ‘nice to have’ or a channel to post to ‘once you have the time’. Strategic content delivers real results and portrays your brand as you want to be seen.

My Experience: I’ve had plenty of experience in, not only creating social media posts (copy, graphics and videos), but also the long-term strategy behind content – all based on company objectives and established tone of voice/graphical style.

From social media ads on LinkedIn, Meta and YouTube, to Pay-Per-Click advertising on Google and Bing, capture leads actively interested in relevant content!

My Experience: I manage Google/Bing PPC and LinkedIn/Meta Ads campaigns for a number of companies. A recent success would be a private dentist who experimented with Meta Ads at a small budget of £200 and gained 35 verified leads! Needless to say, they’re continuing with Meta Ads.

Nothing is as attention-grabbing as an idealic image of happy customers or action shots of your product or offering that makes people envious!

My Experience: I’ve worked on countless video/photo shoots in my time. I find the key to their success is planning. After establishing the objectives we want to achieve from the content, I will go away and storyboard the shoot (including props, actors and spaces required). Then, we move on to the shooting process (which usually goes well if you’ve planned well beforehand) before heading into the editing room to get footage/photos looking their best, edited together with graphics and exported into a variety of formats and sizes for use on any media on software like Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, LightRoom and Photoshop.

You need somewhere to send customers. An appealing and well-functioning site, combined with SEO-optimised content, drives traffic.

My Experience: Apart from building this website by myself, I’ve also created a website for a digital maketing agency (with a functioning store) and a charity. I am comfortable working on platforms like WordPress, Squarespace and more; I also regularly update customers’ pages with new content. Creating SEO-optimised content is a great tactic when done properly. If, for example, I am making an SEO blog, I will ensure that we have internal and external links, images (ideally graphics) with alt text, FAQ sections, and unique content, all centred around keywords I have chosen to focus on through platforms like Semrush.

PRINT WORK

Branding is the first thing people see when viewing your organisation, so I’ve focused a lot of my time on making content that attracts and is memorable.

My Experience: I’ve created a lot of print products. These have included: brochures, flyers, roadside banners and business cards, to name but a few! Keeping the medium, target audience and branding guidelines in mind, I regularly use Adobe InDesign and Illustrator to create my projects.

Nothing converts better than a customer or a lead who has signed up for marketing emails. Leveraging this data, with clever automation flows, create returning customers and increase lifetime value.

My Experience: When it comes to email marketing, having a long-term plan in mind is always helpful. I try to avoid sending out relentless hard-sell emails to current clients and leads, as most people turn off straight away. Instead, I try to plan ahead so that I can educate with informational pieces that are mixed in with selling CTAs. I’ve found this helps boost performance metrics and the lifetime value of customers. Using automations helps me plan out reader journeys depending on how and what they interact with in each email, and the journeys can be up to 20 stages! I’m very familiar with platforms like Campaign Monitor, MailChimp and more!

With the explosion of AI in the past couple of years, it seems a lot of companies are either left behind or feel the need to create some questionable AI fluff – but there’s a happy medium!

My Experience: Although I purposely haven’t used it while making this website, AI is increasingly helping to give me advice, content and feedback in many ways. Firstly, when creating content for large SEO blogs or multi-stage email automation flows, using AI to help create or enhance content creation is a great way to generate content in a new light (when given strict guidelines and when properly proofread). It is also useful when getting stuck in very specific technical brick walls, like in the bowels of Google Ads’ ever-changing environment. Also, after giving AI previous content and exact goals I want, asking it for feedback on content I create is a great way to use AI how it should be used – in an assistive manner; like when checking if I am sticking with an established tone of voice, how I can evolve an idea into a string of content pieces, as well as researching topics and statistics for documents I am working on. My use is always evolving and improving every day.

Being able to manage multiple projects and deadlines can be tricky. But it’s important to prioritise projects that offer return on KPIs and offer the best efficacy from your objectives.

My Experience: Although it can be daunting, I really enjoy planning projects, from ideation through to execution and reporting. I currently balance all of these aspects of project planning for seven companies, and regularly liaise with key stakeholders to establish KPIs while running them through our current progress with statistics from detailed (and jargon-free) reporting. With all this project managing, you need a good PMS, and I have helped manage and implement monday.com at a previous workplace to manage all of our projects across a nationwide company, while also making it easier than ever for sites to request marketing support with integrated forms. I also have experience in other platforms like ClickUp.

Marketing shouldn’t be done alone! When you have experts in multiple areas, making sure everyone is aligned with the project goals and working to their strengths is crucial to success.

My Experience: After gaining my L2 NCFE in Team Leading, I regularly manage team members, with daily meetings to catch up on progress and to see if I can support them in any way and offer guidance. I also have plenty of experience in delegating work to web and design teams with clear briefs.
